エスティヴァン ゴヤ バルゾラ

 スティーブンさんは、インスリンと測定チップを求めてFUVIDAに来ました。彼は4日前にインスリンと測定チップを使い果たしましたが、購入するお金がありませんでした。

 血糖測定器で測ったところ、血糖値は650mg/dLと高い数値を示しました。インスリンを注射し、しばらくすると落ち着いてきました。
 エスティヴァンさんに「糖尿病になって、幸せか? それとも悲しいか?」と尋ねたところ、「FUVIDAへ来て友達に会えるのは楽しいし、気分も良くなる。キャンプに行くのも楽しい。でも、僕が糖尿病であることでお母さんが大変なのは悲しいんだ。ウチには食べ物が十分に無くて、僕はいつもおなかをすかせているから」と答えました。
 彼に「何が食べたいか?」と尋ねたところ、「ハンバーガーにロースチチキン、それにホットドッグも食べたいし・・・」と答えました。
 4時間後、血糖を測ったところ、138mg/dLまで下がりました。尿中のケトン体も測ったところ陰性でした。
 彼を誘ってハンバーガーを食べに行くと、彼はとても喜びました。音楽を聞きはじめ、メロディに合わせて彼は頭と足を動かしはじめました。
 エスティヴァンさんは、映画館に行ったことも無ければ、ピザを食べたこともありません。
 エスティヴァンさんは、「そんなの、金持ちのすることだから」と言いました。私の娘が「なぜ、映画館へ行ったり、ピザを食べることがお金持ちのすることなの?」と尋ねると「テレビを見ればいいことじゃん」と答えました。
 FUDIVAを知る前は、頻繁に病院に通っていました。病院では、エスティヴァンさんの病態に合ってないタイプのインスリンを処方され、両親は少しでもインスリンを 節約し長くもたせようと、インスリン量を勝手に減らしていました。
 お金がないので、十分な量のインスリンを買うことができないのです。エスティヴァンの家族は6人兄弟で、お父さんは1週間に1度しか家族のもとへ戻れません。何キロも離れた職場でやっと10ドルを稼ぎ出し、1週間分の家族の食費にあてているのです。
 エスティヴァンさんはインスリンを注射しなければなりませんが、そのために食料を削らなければならず、十分に食べられません。
 1斤のパンとアニス油(香辛料)入りの水で1週間を過ごさなければなりません。
 退院し帰宅しても食料がなく、低血糖を起こし再び8日間入院することになりました。エスティヴァンさんは、「入院は嫌だけど、食べ物には困らないから・・・」と言いました。
 エスティヴァンの生活は、変りはじめています。彼は家計を助けるため、週末はバイク店で働いています。
 叔母といっしょに住み始め、住環境と食生活が改善し、糖尿病の治療は良い方向へ向かってます。叔母は、FUDIVAへ頻繁に通い、糖尿病について勉強しています。

Estiven llega a la fundación FUVIDA en busca de insulina y tiras reactivas, que se le habían terminado hace 4 días y carecía de dinero para venir a recogerla a la fundación se realiza una glucosa determinación de glicemia a Steven y el medidor refleja alto.
Hi en el medidor de glucosa que se uso es mas de 650 mg/dl le inyectamos su insulina, y mientras transcurre el tiempo el se pone a pintar, y tiene la oportunidad de hablar acerca de sus sentimientos, le pregunte ¿eres feliz o estas triste teniendo diabetes?, el dice: “soy feliz cuando asisto a la fundación a ver a mis amigos, porque me siento bien, y mas cuando hay campamentos, pero estoy triste porque mi mamá me reta porque tengo diabetes, yo tengo mucha hambre y en mi casa no hay para comer, y yo me muero de hambre” ¿Y que haces pregunté? “Me acuesto a dormir para no pensar en la comida” ¿Y qué te gusta comer? “Hamburguesa, seco de pollo, hot dog,.”etc
Estiven estaba muy triste, cotejamos después de 4 horas su glucosa y tenía 138 mg/dl, también verificamos sus cetonas en orina y dio como resultado negativo, y después lo invitamos a comer su hamburguesa.
Era tan feliz, que sin música movía sus pies y su cabeza como si estuviera escuchando la mejor melodía, El jamás ha ido a un cine, y nunca ha comido pizza, pero alegaban que son ricas, ¿ como sabes? le pregunta mi hija, a lo que Steven responde “porque la veo en la televisión “ dice.
Antes de conocer la fundación, la vida de Estiven era una constante visita al hospital, recibía su dosis de insulina de forma irregular, porque sus padres ahorraban la insulina para que les durara mas por que no tenían para comprar más insulina.
Estiven de una familia de 6 hermanos y su padre no vive con ellos. Un día sale de su casa caminando kilómetros para recoger los 10 dólares que envía su padre para la comida, semanalmente, El había inyectado insulina y no comió lo suficiente, (un pan y una agua de anís) llega a su casa con el dinero, pero convulsiona por una hipoglucemia, haciendo que el regrese al hospital donde queda 8 días internado por una hipoglucemia, A Estiven no le gusta estar en el hospital, pero dice ahí tengo todas las comidas.
El suele trabajar los fines de semana en una moto transportando personas como cobrador para ayudar a su madre.
Cambiamos la vida de Steven, actualmente Estiven vive con su tía, es un hogar que le puede brindar comida y seguridad, Su tía ahora nos visita frecuentemente y está aprendiendo sobre diabetes.

Before knowing about the foundation, Stephen’s life was a constant visit to the hospital. He works weekends in a motorcycle shop to help his mother with extra money.

The life of Steven has now changed, at present Steven is living with his aunt, she is providing him a good home with sufficient food, and security for his diabetes,
